The short answer is yes, if you'll drive on public roads.

The Law: Public Roads vs. Private Property

Driving on Public Spanish Roads

If you'll drive from your villa to the supermarket or along town roads to the golf course, you're on public roads. By law, any vehicle on a public Spanish road must be registered, display official number plates (matrícula), and carry third-party insurance.

To get plates, the vehicle must be an EEC road legal buggy. You can't put a number plate on a standard golf cart. It must be factory homologated to European safety standards, with a 17-digit VIN, glass windscreen, three-point seatbelts and automotive LED lighting. Driving on Private Property

If you only drive on a closed resort, private estate or golf course and never cross a public street, public road rules don't apply, and your buggy doesn't need DGT registration or plates.

Every buggy we sell runs on a 48V LFP lithium battery with a 60–80 km range and a 5-year warranty. Follow two golden rules:

1. The 10–20 Cycle "Break-In" Period

For the first 10 to 20 charge cycles, let the battery charge fully to 100% without interruption. This calibrates the battery management system (BMS) so the range indicator is accurate.

2. The 20% Golden Rule

Never let the battery drop below a 20% charge. Running it flat stresses the cells, especially in the Spanish heat, and causes permanent capacity loss. Plug in when you get home.
